Apparently they break a lot (not surprising from a company that was founded in 2003 and deals with both tech and automotive), but I’d still buy one if I had the cash.

Well if your competing with Range Rover, might as well copy what worked for them.

I see them almost daily and aside from the cool pop out door handles and touch screen I think they are rather bland

I just realized I missed a great opportunity to make a play off of the Rover in Range Rover in regards to the dog in DeMuros most recent CarMax post. Dammit.

One of the best DDs on the market. But it will never replace a true enthusiast car. I need engine noise for that

It seems that they start out as “the best car anyone has ever driven” but run into reliability and build quality issues in relatively short order. There is a lot of brilliant design and engineering that has gone into them, but it almost strikes me that they are using the same overarching thought process as building a smartphone. When your iphone starts to circle the drain after a year and a half, that’s not a big deal. When your $100,000 luxury car does the same, it is a huge problem. I would steer clear unless you have the cash, time, and other modes of transportation to deal with the potential issues you will run into. It’s like buying an RX-7 but only tech nerds think you’re cool.

I like them. I think it looks very classy and elegant (except for that huge freaking Ipad in the dash) in person. It’s out of my price range, but it’s one of very few electric cars that are viable to have as your only car.

Design wise I thought they looked good when they first came out. Now they seem a bit boring in my eyes, though they aren’t ugly. Also, I have a bit of a prejudice against their owners. Many seem to be like the drivers of big German iron, with the same sense of entitlement and disregard for others, mixed with some smugness over their “environmental” cars and fast acceleration. Mixed with the fact that around here they’ve basically got a large part of their luxury car paid by taxpayers, that does tend to make me a bit angry.

Objectively, though, they’re nice cars. I wouldn’t mind owning one.

I live in Connecticut, which has Superchargers out the ass, due to it being both full of money and being the part of New England all roads get crammed into if you want to drive in or out of New England, and I see so many of these they’ve started to blend in. It’s interesting, because it’s either an indication of these cars’ quality as a vehicle or fashion statement that they’ve been so successful here despite CT being the only state that I know of that has a special tax just for 100% electric vehicles.

I like the Tesla as a concept and they definitely look nice and are fast. But for the price, no way in hell I would consider one even if I had that kind of money.

I hate em something fierce. I live in SoCal, so you can imagine the clientele that buy them here and there's a lot of them. Leaving aside that issue, I don't like the way they look, I think they're overpriced for what they are and I can't see myself driving one. It's an Iphone car, a fad car, the kind of car you buy because it's the new shiny bauble and has a rabid fanbase that will defend every bullshit problem it has.

Probably an unpopular opinion here, but you could not give me an electric car. Especially not one that weighs 5000 lbs. Well, you could but I would only drive it once, and right to the closest Audi or BMW dealer so that I could trade it for an S6/M3.

I’m impressed by the acceleration, but that’s it. I’ve not driven a model s so my opinion holds little weight. However I plan to drive one to make sure that I hate it lol. There is a Tesla “store” at the local mall I intend on driving one when I’m off during the holidays.

Sadly, a decent percentage of enthusiast cars are going to a soundtrack for that... That the good Lord for cars like the new GT350!

The interiors are nice to look at but fall apart quickly. And every couple batches of cars they make the interior parts come from different suppliers so getting new parts is hard. The interior is very comfortable and spacious though.

Oh, and they are FAST AS FUCK

really though, they’re good looking cars, and a tech junkie’s dream, but a little birdy told me they’re not doing so well in the second hand/wholesale market.

Unpopular opinion alert...

Went with somebody to go buy one a few months ago. We were all pumped because of the great reviews and how truly awesome they are made out to be.

The car was very fast and the engineering behind it was inspiring. No worries about range, service or anything like that. Was going to be used locally for the most part.

However at the end of process we realized 3 things:

1.) The rear seat headroom is not good for taller people (maybe specifically those with long torsos)

2.) The rear seat seemed much more like a 2+2 than a 3 seater

3.) The biggie: for the price of a fully loaded P90D we expected certain things to be a bit nicer, or at least on par with other cars in the price range.

They didn’t buy it.
